What to Expect on Your First Visit

Planning Your First Visit

Visiting any church, for the very first time can be a tough experience. Where to go? What to wear? What time to show up? What’s here for my kids? What can I expect? These and many more questions can surface. Well, we want to put you at ease. Your first visit to Windom Baptist Church, we believe will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. For starters we staff through very willing volunteers an active Greeter Ministry that will greet you and hand you a bulletin containing much information. During the Worship service and beyond we want you to experience inspiring music, helpful relevant preaching and teaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and “at home”!

Here are a few answers to your questions and what you might expect on your first visit.

I’m Not a Baptist… Can I Still Attend?

It is our desire that Windomd Baptist Church would be a church for everyone that has a desire to have a relationship with God. You do not have to come from a Baptist background, or hold to any particular religious affiliation to attend services here. We are convinced that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and it is sufficient to point any sincere person to faith in Jesus Christ. If you have a desire to know God or already have a relationship with God desiring to experience His best in your life, we invite you to join us on the journey, for all of us are on a journey.

What’s here for my kids?

Starting with a great nursery, there is something special for every age child from birth through high school! At every service we offer safe, clean, and staffed nursery for children three years old and under. For children four years old through 5th grade there are fun, friendly, and Bible-centered Sunday School classes on Sunday morning, in addition to seperate Sunday school classes for Junior High and High School. There is also "Kids for Christ" which is run during the sermon of the morning message for 3-3rd grade. There is also our Sunday Night Kids for Christ which runs from 5:00 to 6:00pm, and Our Wednesday night children service which inlcudes a meal at 6:00pm and Children classes at 6:45-7:30pm.  All these ministries are staffed with trained, friendly, and well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child. In addition all volunteers that work with children have undergone a criminal background check.

How should I dress?

There is NOT a dress code at WBC for members or guests. Church is certainly not a fashion show and so you wear what is comfortable for you.

Do I bring a Bible?

We encourage you to bring your Bible with you as we will be studying it both in Sunday School and Worship time.  If you need a Bible, please let our welcome team know and we can furnish you a copy.  There are also Bibles in the sanctuary located in the pew in front of you.

How do I join?  I want to be baptized.

At the conclusion of each service, Bro. Judd will give an invitation.  During that time, you can make your way to the front of the sanctuary where Bro. Judd is standing and he will walk you through these decisions. Our guest cards also have a place where you can request more information.

If there’s something we missed!

Please give us a call, or ask someone when you arrive. Whether you’re looking for a church home or new to Windom, we hope your first visit at Windom Baptist Church will be uplifting and encouraging! We exist to worship God while serving you and your family, and we are looking forward to meeting you personally. We hope you’ll feel right at home from the very first moment you step onto our church property! Let us know how we can serve you better, and we hope to meet you this Sunday!
